How can i unlock my ESET Advanced setup if i do not remember the interface password?

Hi Folks,

Securing a security software is good thought, hence we have password on advanced setup interface. However, what if you do not remember it? Difficult situation right,  because you can not change the configuration of your ESET software.

PROBLEM:

My ESET advanced setup is locked and i forgot the password. How can i reset?

SOLUTION:

Interface lock of ESET software is managed by a registry key in your system.

1. Restart your system in Safe mode:
   

2. Windows 7/Vista/2008 : http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-7

3. Windows 8/10/2012: http://www.howtogeek.com/107511/how-to-boot-into-safe-mode-on-windows-8-the-easy-way/

4. Open registry -> Go to Start -> Run
   

5. Type “regedit” and press enter. (open registry editor)

6. Backup your registry to be on safer side : https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/322756

7. Find and Delete below Key
   

8. “LockPassword”

9. Registry Key Path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ESET\ESET Security\CurrentVersion\Plugins\01000600\settings\EKRN_CFG\LockPassword

1. Restart your system in normal mode.

2. Check your ESET. Now you should able to access all the features.

3. You are done.
