How to find your first IT Job/Work in Australia?

Hey Folks,

We know, it is very hard for most of us to get into our first IT role after spending time and money on our education. I asked my linkedIn contacts and here are some suggestions I would like to share some keys which may open the doors for you.

From Raj: (Working at Oracle Australia)

Most of the times, PR is a requirement. Still there are avenues on how to get into IT. Depending on the skillset, trying freelancing, approaching start ups and attending free Tech events to network with industry experts are few things one can try.

One of my customers from a service station I worked at helped me to get my first IT interview after numerous attempts.

From Chirayu: (Working at Metro.Digital Germany)

Commitment: Remarkable portfolio plays a significant role in grabbing attention. To achieve this, acquire fundamental certifications based on desired (/hot) skill . upload university projects, regardless of their size, onto GitHub ( learn how to do that via Youtube ) and mention it.

Networking: Look for and participate in IT meetups, workshops, and conferences which is going a lot now days. Leverage LinkedIn effectively; connect with experienced professionals and seek guidance via 1:1 sessions rather than relying on recruiters only.

This is interesting platform for 1:1 session, you may like it https://adplist.org/explore?tab=mentors

Please let me know if you would like to know more.
