How to update ESET Remote Administrator (ERA6.4) Virtual appliance Operating System?

Hi Folks,

ERA 6.4 is out now and its an amazing virtual appliance based on Cent OS.

PROBLEM:

When you deploy that in your environment you might get the error of Operating system is not updated.

See error Screen shots below:

SOLUTION:

It’s actually very simple to update the OS and get rid of the errors.

1. Shutdown the system and take a snapshot.
   

2. As this is a virtual system, it’s better and easy to have a snapshot if anything goes wrong.

3. Now, Go to the console of the VA using below. (http://help.eset.com/era_deploy_va/62/en-US/index.html?manual_va_configuration.htm)
   

4. Press Enter and Type the Password of your VA.

1. Login and then ‘Exit to Terminal’ as below.
   

2. 
   

1. Now type:
   

2. su -c ‘yum update’

3. 
   

1. Enter the root password if its ask for.

2. Follow the prompts with ‘y’ to install all updates.

3. Let it update the OS and once it is done, Restart the VA if needed.

4. Check the ERA server web console and You are done.
